Nine Mile is the northern most dived reef in Sodwana Bay and is home to a large variety of different species. The reef is shallow on the shore ward side, called Breaking waters, starting at about six meters and goes down to 21m.This reef is host to the only species of free swimming nudibranches in Maputaland. These can be found on the drop off along with black coral green wire corals and gorgonian sea-fans.
The reef is well known for its green coral tree that’s always buzzing with fish life. A few swim through overhangs can also be found near this coral tree to add to the taste of the adventurous diver. The Coral tree is home to a number of species small reef fishes including Sea goldies and Damsels.
