Gordon's Bay

All these sites are best dived in the summer when the South Easter cleans and flattens the sea. All of these sites are recommended boat dives, easy shore entries are given last. The average visibility for False bay is about 6-8m but is usually more after a strong south easter.

 Dive sites:

Ray

Koei en Kalf (Cow and Calf)

This site is named after the large and small adjoining rocks that are above the water at low tide. This can also be done as a shore entry but it involves a steep and very difficult climb down to the waters edge. This site is an absolute must for novice and experienced divers alike.

Ray

Ave. visibility: 4-8m

Max depth: 10m

Lorry bay

Named after the car wrecks that litter the ocean and the edge of the water. This is an interesting dive due to all the wrecks but it is also very satisfying. It is suitable for novice and advanced divers alike.

Max. depth: 12m

Rocky bay

This is an exciting adrenalin-filled dive with lots of fish, big ones as well, to be seen. Crayfish is also seen regularly.

 Ave. visibility: 4-8m

Max. depth: 6-24m depending on the dive plan.

Steenbras Deep

This is a open ocean dive and is only suitable for experienced divers. Since this is open sea the fish are bigger than near the coast and this makes for an exciting dive filled with fish life.

Max. depth: 30m

Boskloof

This site has abundant and colorful sea life and is suitable for all divers. It can be done as ashore entry but only with good planning. It is situated near some woods, hence the name.

Max. depth: 12m

Percy’s

This can be done as a shore entry but involves a long, steep walk down and back. It has a most enjoyable swimthrough and is suitable for all divers. Lots of nudibranches, urchins, fishes and soft corals can be seen here.

Max. depth: 17m

Crosses

This site is named after the crosses erected to the fishermen who drowned in this area. It is a very easy shore entry and suitable for all levels of qualifications. It is a breathtakingly beautiful dive.

Max. depth: 17m

Balcony

This is also an easy shore entry and results in a beautiful dive suitable for all levels of experience. The area has vast fialds of kelp and is a nursery for Pipe fish There are also some spectacular pinnacles rising from the ocean floor.

Max. depth: 14m

Coral Gardens

This is not the easiest of shore entries as the diver needs a lengthy swim through the kelp. Across the bay there runs a gully which is a haven for Pajama sharks, huge crayfish and abalone. Among some of the surprises you may find in the gully there is also an abundance of nudibranches and soft corals.

Max. depth: 18-29m depending on the dive plan.
