Here is some possible problems in the regulator and what to do to fix them.

Free flowing

Hard inhalation

  1. Low hose pressure
  2. Corrotion or dirt

Hard exhalation

  1. Perished exhaust port
  2. Blocked exhaust T
  1. Replace
  2. Clear

Water entering the second stage

  • Split mouthpiece
  • Damaged diaphragm
  • Dameged or kinked exhaust port
  • Cracked housing

Check, adjust and replace

Weak purge

  1. Incorrect adjustment
  2. Incorrect level height
  1. Check hose pressure
  2. Re-adjust

Erratic air flow

  1. First stage seat
  2. Hose pressure
  3. Corrosion in second stage
  1. Replace
  2. Check
  3. Clean

Air leaks from first stage

  1. O-rings
  2. Diaphragm not sealing
  1. Replace
  2. Check

Regular blowing off from   the second stage

  1. Hose pressure too high
  2. First stage valve failure, it blows off the second stage valve and then builds up pressure again
  1. Check & adjust
